Daily Thoughts

Evolving. I was born in 1962 and was an adolescent during the disco era of the late 1970s. I was listening to some Barry Manilow recently, and they were using one of the early synthesizers to create the background music for the song. It lacked a little something. Over the last 40 years or so, the quality of the synthesizer has grown. The same thing happened to the way I think about the world. As an adolescent (especially from the 1970s), there was a level of naïveté that was inherent in my upbringing. I wasn’t exposed to the diversity of thought that existed at the time but was not accessible to me. As I have gotten older and opened my eyes to other ways of thinking and acting, my own thinking and acting have evolved.
When we narrow our focus to those things that are within our comfort zone, we fail to evolve. When we open our eyes, ears, and hearts to other ways of seeing, thinking, and acting, we begin to change. Change is not comfortable. However, change is necessary.
Every day, we have opportunities to push against our boundaries.
Every day, we have opportunities for growth.
Every day, we have the choice to continue where we are or evolve into a better version of ourselves.
From where I sit, I seek evolution. If we all embrace evolution, there will be revelation and revolution!
