Each Is Important. Despite the messages that many of us have heard from childhood, we each have skills and abilities that are needed by our communities and the world. Each of us is an integral part of the Divine Order. When we discount our gifts and our value, we are letting fear overcome the reality of who we are. When we take the time to listen, not just to our own hearts, but to the flow of Spirit around us, we reconnect with our purpose. Reconnection helps us to see what our part is in Divine Order, because each of us is important.

From where I sit, I reconnect and open my heart and mind to the flow of Spirit.

We Are One. In the face of the individualistic culture of much of Western society, we are becoming much more aware of the oneness of humanity. Spiritual masters over the centuries have spoken on this many times. When we provide basic necessities to those in need, we are perpetuating the message of God’s love. We may disagree in some matters, but it is important for us to recognize that we are one with our fellow travelers through this life. This tells us that we should strive for our highest ideal, because this will lift all of us in the process.

From where I sit, I celebrate my oneness with you as we see the highest good for all.

What You Want. For many of us in relationships with others, we are focused on what we think they want from us and try to meet those desires with the hope that they will reciprocate. When they don’t, we are hurt and disillusioned. Our focus is misguided when we try to figure out what someone else wants. Relationships offer us the opportunity to grow by thinking about what we want from the relationship that will help us become better people and allow the other person to grow as well. It’s a paradigm shift from what we’ve been taught, but the payout in the quality of our relationships is worth it.

From where I sit, I examine the relationships that I have had, the ones that I have, and the ones that I want in the future and embrace the lessons that were learned, the gifts I’ve given and been given, and the new opportunities for growth.

Challenges Create Growth. We have all been in situations when we ask the question, “Why Me?” Whether it is conflict in relationship, physical challenges, mental struggles, etc., the answer to that question is that challenges create growth. Every day, we are bringing opportunities to learn into our lives. Sometimes those lessons can seem overwhelming, but within us, we have the skills to overcome them. Instead of complaining about the challenge, step back, pay attention to what your body is telling you, pay attention to the external messages, and find one thing that you can address. Continue that same process until you have figured a way to resolve the challenge. Each time a similar challenge comes along, you already have the knowledge you need.

From where I sit, I embrace the challenges of life, knowing that they will create growth.

Forgiveness Brings Peace. For many of us, forgiveness is a sticking point. When we have been hurt or someone you know has been hurt, forgiveness is a challenge. It’s hard to remember that forgiving someone is not from that person, but it is for ourselves. Forgiveness opens the door for healing. Healing brings peace.

From where I sit, I forgive, and peace enters in.

All Things Are Possible. In the late 1800s, the Wright brothers were laughed at for thinking that they might be able to get a vehicle to fly. They knew in their hearts and minds that it was possible and made it happen. In the mid-1900s, the commonly held belief was that no one would be able to run a mile in less than four minutes, but when Roger Bannister did it, others quickly followed in his path. When something seems impossible, changing perspective and believing in possibilities creates the fertile ground wherein all things are possible.

From where I sit, I choose the perspective that all things are possible.

Doing It Right. We often hear people say that we are not doing it the “right way”. Whether it be folding towels or doing a math problem, we are fixated on having someone “do it right”. The reality is that whatever we are doing in resolving conflicts or performing tasks, we are doing it “right”. Embrace your unique perspective and follow your heart. Allow others to do the same. Release the requirement that things have to be done your way to be “the right way”. In doing each of these, the world begins to operate in harmony.

From where I sit, I am always “doing it right”.

Mudslinging. In this day and age, it is so easy to say and do things through social media, because in some ways there is a sense of anonymity to it. It is not uncommon to see posts that are derogating and denigrating other people or groups of people. We forget that when we throw mud at someone, we also get dirty. When we attack others, we attack ourselves. The words that we say and the things we do will eventually come back to us. Before you share that post or send that email, think about the repercussions and choose wisely.

From where I sit, I think before I act.

Peace. In a world full of conflicts and divisiveness, it’s hard to find peace. It’s easy to react and snap back at someone who has hurt us or is doing things that can cause harm to others. In the face of conflict and division, the only thing that we truly have control over is how we react. We have the choice to act from peace and love or from fear. If we practice peace, those around us will begin to experience that same calmness. Daily, we will be presented with opportunities to operate from peace or from fear. If we stop, take a breath, and consider our words before we speak, we have the opportunity to be agents of peace. How will you choose today?

From where I sit, I practice peace in the face of conflict.

In the Image of Love. No matter what the circumstances of your birth, you were created in the image of love. Within you is the spark of love. That is what connects each of us and that is what moves us forward. When you look in the mirror, see what God sees. When you look at others, see what God sees. God sees your true nature – love. Each of us was created in the image of love, and we must celebrate the love within us and our brothers.

From where I sit, I celebrate the love that connects each of us.
