May 13, 2021 – Shifting Our Focus

Daily Thoughts

5/13/21

Shifting Our Focus. When our focus and attention is on the troubles that are in our lives – the struggles with health or finances or the trials of relationships, we spiral downward. When our focus and attention is on gratitude and seeing the good even amongst the trials and struggles, we can face those trials and struggles and find a way through them. Learning to shift our focus brings with it calm and peace. Within the calm and peace, we can find solutions.

From where I sit, I shift my focus to gratitude, and peace will help me find my way through.

May 12, 2021 – Taking Offense

Daily Thoughts

5/12/21

Taking Offense. In English, we say that we take offense when something has occurred that causes us emotional pain. People are going to do things every day that are offensive to us – sometimes on purpose, sometimes accidentally, yet oftentimes, they have no clue that they found anything offensive. Fortunately, that offense is not ours to we take hold of it. If we take hold of it and not let it go, we are trapped. That offense will take us on a rollercoaster ride until we choose to exit the ride. The solution is simple, yet not easy to accomplish – let it go.

From where I sit, I strive to let go of the offenses that have kept me trapped.

May 11, 2021 – Responding

Daily Thoughts

5/11/21

Responding. In every instance and interaction, we have an opportunity to respond with love or react with fear or hurt. Even when the situation is one that is uncomfortable and potentially hurtful, taking time to think through what is happening allows us the opportunity to respond with love. If the situation is potentially hurtful, the loving response is to back away and be certain that our own words and actions don’t exacerbate the situation. Responding takes thought and is well worth the effort.

From where I sit, I pause, consider what is happening, and respond with love.

May 10, 2021 – The Illusions of Fear

Daily Thoughts

5/10/21

The Illusions of Fear. When we look through the eyes of fear, we see others as the enemy. When we look for the eyes of fear, we see separateness and division. These are illusions. In the eyes of God, there are no enemies. In the eyes of God, there is no separateness or division. In the eyes of God, there is only love. Everything except love is an illusion.

From where I sit, I look through the eyes of love and release fear.

May 9, 2021 – One Voice

Daily Thoughts

5/9/21

One Voice. When we see something that needs to be changed, it’s important to speak up. Each of us may feel like we are just one voice that really will make a difference, but when that one voice is joined by others, change is possible. Using our voice also ensures that we are fulfilling our purpose all being good stewards of society. We are all in this together, and we need to make sure that our voices are heard.

From where I sit, I will let my voice be heard.

May 8, 2021 – Symbiosis

Daily Thoughts

5/8/21

Symbiosis. Our bodies have over 50 trillion cells in them. Each of those cells is performing its own unique task. When one or more of those cells begins to struggle with its task, it is a cascade effect on the rest of the body. The symbiosis within our bodies is a metaphor for how each of us is a part of the life force of this planet. When conflict occurs between humans, it is a cascade effect upon the rest of the planet. When collaboration occurs, the planet is more in harmony. The choice is always between conflict and collaboration.

From where I sit, I seek symbiosis.

May 6, 2021 – Giving Is Receiving

Daily Thoughts

5/6/21

Giving Is Receiving. One of the universal laws is that whatever you give is what you will receive. If you give fear and hate, that is what will be returned to you. If you give unconditional love, kindness, and compassion (without expectation), you will receive unconditional love, kindness, and compassion.

From where I sit, it’s a fairly easy choice – I will give unconditional love, kindness, and compassion without expectation, but with the knowledge that it will be returned.

May 4, 2021 – Peace amongst the Chaos

Daily Thoughts

5/4/21

Peace amongst the Chaos. For many of us, each day is filled with rushing hither and thither trying to compete and complete. Finding peace in the middle of this chaos and frenzy can be difficult. If we don’t take the time to find that peace, our bodies will let us know. Just as we must do maintenance on our vehicles and provide them with good fuel, so must we treat the body. Quality ingredients provide the fuel. Exercise, meditation, and rest provide the maintenance. Self-care is not selfish – it is mandatory.

From where I sit, I seek peace within the chaos of life.
